KAMPI CUP ROUND 2 ON 18 NOV 2007 AT LISTER

KAMPI CUP
SCHEDULE FOR
18 NOV 2007 AT LISTER

1030 Shohoku vs Kampay
1400 Euston vs Dream Team
1530 Fil Agency vs Controllers
1700 Charlton vs Northgate

Are these times correct? Teams please confirm this. 10am then next game 2pm?? Why big gap? Any other matches? Only outstanding match is between Kings and Controllers but Controllers will be playing Agency on same day!

OK, this is how the schedule should be according to Mr Ed Caparros.

1100 Shohoku vs Kampay
1230 DMCI VS EPSOM - CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
1400 Euston vs Dream Team
1530 Fil Agency vs Controllers
1700 Charlton vs Northgate

If Epsom wins, the 2nd match will be TBA. Likely to be following Sunday.

DMCI Champions???!!!
What happened Mr Editor?? I wanted to watch the final. How come its not at the end of the tournament?? They only put it in the schedule last week. Oh dear, KAMPI strikes again!! DMCI wins by default again. What a champion!!

1100 Shohoku beat Kampay
1230 DMCI VS EPSOM - CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
1400 Dream Team beat Euston
1530 Controllers beat Fil Agency
1700 Charlton beat Northgate

Mang Rene, Shohoku could have beaten Kampay without your help running the clock fast and not adding fouls to Shohoku! So OBVIOUS. You are not stupid, you know the rules yet you still break it! I don't mind losing, but goddammit let them earn it by themselves like Controllers and Kings do! And now they are lucky enough to draw the standby ticket to the semifinal!!??

LEAGUE FINAL
KAMPI stated that Epsom and DMCI knew for a long time when the final was gonna be but the website only published the up to date schedule with the LEAGUE FINAL being inserted in between the Cup games less than a week before Sunday 18th Nov.

Epsom on the other hand, claims that they were told that the schedule for the league finals were the 2nd Dec, and if Epsom wins, the 9th Dec for the rematch because of the twice to beat advantage earned by DMCI for topping the table during the elimination round. And they were informed later on that the schedule for the finals had been moved forward.

I personally agree with Epsom and I am sure a lot more people too, that the League Final should always be the climax of the league and not any "bonus" competitions like the Cup.

I invite both sides to give their side to tell their of the story in case I miss something out. Also, for the benefit of other patrons of our league. Epsecially, as to the reason why Epsom decided not to turn up to defend their title. Remember, Epsom have won the KAMPI League 3 times in a row and DMCI are the current dominant team in all 3 Filipino basketball leagues in London. Players would want to see their match ups.

Here are my thoughts to this never ending **** ups with this league. First of all, why is there only 1 league final. How about the people in division 2? Do they not have their own finals? Secondly why hold a league final scheduled for game 2 on sunday? Do they not want people to come and watch? Epsom vs DMCI would have been a good match but at 12.30, many people are still at church. Then Why did Kampi publish the schedule a couple of days before the sunday?? Again do they not want to create a good build up to league final to encourage more people to come and watch? If you look at PSUK, for example, they update their website every week and had their schedules published from the start. If there were any changes, they made sure everyone was aware. PSUK have definitely raised the bar and although I like the fact that Kampi have innovated their structure - introduction of divisions and the cup... it is the same old story in terms of the organisation.

then they gave a bye to 4 teams, 3 teams straight to round 3 and then 1 team from round 2 to the semi's. abit odd

I think its a really good idea to do a kampi cup and a divisional league, but again, they are showing signs of incompetence with the scheduling and the organising.

and on another note... why have they cancelled the kings v.s. controllers game altogether? these teams have paid a lot of money and the least they could expect is to have their money's worth and play the same amount of games as anyone else... another c0ck up.. they never put the interest of teams first... the teams are the ones that keep kampi going... without us, there will be no kampi... but there will still be others who can do better...

I think they based it on the English FA Cup where the likes of the premiership sides are on standby and waiting in the next rounds rather than thrashing the lower division teams in the earlier rounds. So same with KAMPI. DMCI, Epsom and Phil Emb were considered as the top dogs, but the 4th? I think it is just coincidence or pure luck that Shohoku being the first to draw out of the hat got the standby ticket to the semis. Could've been one of the other qualifiers. But who's to know?

"DMCI are crowned the new champions of KAMPI League 2007. Epsom decided not to turn up rather than field a weakened side to avoid an embarrasing defeat at the hands of the team that only lost to them in their previous match."

Did Epsom not turn up to avoid an embarrasing defeat or did they learn at short notice of the championship game?? Come on KAMPI!!! Its the CHAMPIONSHIP game!!!! Whats it doin stuck in the middle of CRAPPY cup games. So what would have happened if the game went ahead and DMCI won? There would be celebrations and picture taking, "we are the champion" music. This would take another hour or so disrupting the following games. Or did you expect Epsom to win?? If so when would the next game be?? Its not in the schedule. Maybe a few days before the final you could publish it again!!! Year after year the same thing keeps happening, but people still come back for more.

I think PSUK should hold there league on a Sunday so more people join. Its difficult to find time on a Saturday with work and everything. PSUK is a well run league. People know where they stand, they know the rules and the schedule is complete at the beginning. What more could you ask for?

Another thing. Can anybody tell me if they know of a league where the league final is played before all the teams have completed there games?? Westside Kings Vs Controllers?? Is this game going to be played?? Youve got teams in Worthing being fined for not turning up for games. What if you have a game taken away from you. can you fine the organiser?? There is plenty more to say but it would take all day so I'll leave it there.................................

Thats a good point rek. Maybe kings and controllers should ask for part of their money back sincekampi decided to not allow them to play their complete number of games...

Kampi only proves they know nothing. I heard Epsom was given noticed only 2 days before the match. What the...... It could have been a nice game. This is a thing to watch... Championship game to be played first before elimination....Bert time for your team to retire.  BULOK.. Nice to be champs  proving it by playing......

Were DMCI asked if they would rather postpone the game and play Epsom on a rescheduled date? Perhaps some of the key players ahd work commitments. Happened before. Noticeably against Shohoku and Dream Team.
Perhaps they'll meet at the KAMPI Cup Final.

From the Kampi website. Does this make any sense to any of you? What happens to the game 3 winner? Who gets to play Shohoku? Im pretty sure the first game at 1230 is a typo, but which winner will play shohoku?? or are they waiting to see who gets thru first and then change it quickly??!! No disrespect to SHK but if I was one of the 3 winners thats the team I wud want to play in the semis. Watch this space.

Hey guys sorry aint been on in a while, WOW i was told yesterday about the final... what a mess. there is also rumor going around saying that there will be no psuk this year.

Well I have respect for Bert as i know he tries his best to give us the best part of basketball!! i just question other parts of the organisation on weather they can organise this anymore. Remember Bert can't do everything!

I can only assume that KAMPI expects the top teams to be involved in the Cup Final therefore they wanted the League final out of the way.
And what we have now the 2nd Div on a later schedule to close the season rather than the League Final. Perhaps next season they will schedule the Cup games to finish well before the league.

You are right, Mr Bert Rasay is not a one-man team. KAMPI is a group of people dedicated to providing us with a basketball tournament. Regardless of what I thought about a specific KAMPI member, I thought the referees this year have improved, noticably due to the addition of Andy. Their new website, though sometimes late in updating and occasional typing errors. One thing that never will change though, the very tasty food on offer for lunch and refreshments. The caldereta, dinuguan, pansit, lugaw at turon!!! yummyyyy!!!
Salamat sa KAMPI ladies for the nice food! Gonna miss them all!!!
