KAMPI WEST (PSCE) 2009 - Northolt High School

For those wondering what's happening in the WestSide of London, here's the link to the new site:

http://www.kampiwest-basketball.co.uk/

As someone who plays in both west and east leagues, I still wonder why they had to split up Kampi into two totally separately run leagues who are both trying to use the Kampi name. One is not as authentic as the other by having 2 separate leagues.

As far as I am aware, both leagues do not get along and they are trying to compete with eachother, each trying to prove to one another who can have a better league in the name of the established Kampi. In my opinion, had they united the 2 leagues together, they would have dominated the UK Filipino basketball scene. Oh well, chances of that happening at the moment are quite slim but to have TRUE eastern vs. western conference (NBA style) set up would have been great for the filipino community!!!

It's time for us next generation basketball enthusiasts to start thinking about how we get involved in organising leagues for the filipino community cos once the older generations fully retire, it's us that need to represent and do what they have been doing for us for 20 odd years,  but we need to step up to the plate with less politics and less self-interest but more for the good of the filipinos in London!!

Nevertheless, good luck to all the teams competing in Kampi East and Kampi West... At the end of the season, if no one will organise a champion vs champion series between the best of each league, I might have to organise it, cos that would be very interesting to see!!!

LOL

U go Knight!! I would love to see that during my playing days but as you say, that happening is very slim.

Also, at least I'm not the only next generation Filipino Basketball Fanatic that wants to organise a proper league for the Filipino Community in London. I would love to see a league were it is Fair, Organised, and whereby Money-Making for profits biggrin is not of the utmost importance.

We can get loads of sponsorships from different companies be it large or small. We can utilise various internet sites to advertise the league. As a player/FANatic/Coach, I would love to see my stats biggrin online or even highlight reels, TOP 10 PLAYS OF THE WEEK!!! LOL

We can ask the PBA/BBL/PBL to guide us through what makes a great League. Imagine giving the next generation of UK Filipino ballers the chance of making it Pro. Be it getting drafted to the PBL/PBA...or even the British League...or better yet, THE NBA!! Give the filipino community something to aspire to...LOL

Im talkin out of my ass here so i'll end it...but...imagine!!

Peace

Very good ideas.. We should talk to see where/how we could start... Even if it takes a few years to materialise...

thats a nice website for kampi west [i'm guessing this is the more organised of the two??]. as for the east one.. i have not since heard from uncle francis (umali) about creating one for them. come to think of it; is he in the kampi east or west committee?? lol

but never fear.. sunics are dominating east but have not had the time to update the site; www.sunics.webs.com but watch this space!
there are however other ways to keep posted ie. facebook as there are some teams that have a group with players, fans and game schedules such as
sunics = http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=656091778#/group.php?gid=44688967256&ref=ts
northgate = http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=656091778#/group.php?gid=4531004426&ref=ts
plus a pinoy media company that have covered kampi before = www.filmefilms.tv [i cant seem to view the kampi east pictures though cry.gif what a shame!]

hope this helps!

ps. i too would like to see the match up of champions of both leagues.. even if neither committees will organise; there would be huge interest nevertheless to take it into action.. DIBS ON PROMOTION! lol

peace out ballers!
