1000 - ML(1) vs (8)Globe 1120 - Columbia(2) vs (7)Kampay 1240 - Arya Abra(3) vs (6)Fil-Agency 1400 - Tailblazers(4) vs (5)Epsom
Here's the results and Sunday's fixtures list.
I think Globe will give ML a scare but ML will pull through and should top the table as they are likely to score a lot of points. The rest should be interesting. Columbia and Kampay's first meeting was a close one and so was TB vs Epsom. But I'm not expecting any major upsets....but it will be nice if ML do not carry over their advantage to the semis.

When you say you are not expecting any upsets, do you think TB will beat Epsom or vice versa. Coz TB is the 4th seed so some might say they would be expected to win. But then again Epsom is defending champs so you might say they will win. Personally I think TB could possibly take this one. The previous encounter between the two was a close game, but I think Epsom will struggle without Bravo and Carmona.
Can you guarantee that Carmona is not playing? And Bravo too? Finals time so Reyes may turn up. Epsom have other players that can play. We just don't notice it. If Epsom gets knocked out, then that will be an upset. But I'm not expecting that. So Coach, prove me wrong. Your performance against Columbia was one to forget...hearsay....
Fil-Agency will try to even the score against Arya Abra.

first game -- ML will win comfortably... 2nd game -- Kampay might nick this game,,, m still not convince with d columbians game 3rd game -- ARYA bira ABRA will definitely win this game,, whose gonna check kevin ??? JS n JC will be d main man to watch 4th game -- if d main man of EPSOM r not gonna play then TB will have a big chance of progressing into semis( so pray hard TB)still a young team though with a rookie coach so plenty of time to win d championship ,
I agree Mr Editor!!!!! I think that Epsom will be turning up with a complete team. Lets not underestimate them just because they forfeited a couple of games, although it looked like they were slipping. Im still sticking to my theory that they didnt bother with the previous games as they were well aware that they will get into the final 8 anyways. I think that they will be stepping up their game from now on.
Thats my thoughts anyway. Guess we're just gonna have to wait and see.....
GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS IN THE 1/4 FINALS.........
Epsom may try but ain't going to make it to the finals. Without R. Bravo epsom is dead. He definitely will not be able to play. With the injury he has, it's a miracle for him to be able to play to the semi's or to the next league Kampi.
i think carmona is in philly! so i dont think he will be playing and reyes is not aloud to play caz he hasnt playd any of the season games whihc is againist the rules. barcelona told me this when my team playd him in psuk that carmona is in philly and at td mo he is the only big man! but you neva know wat will happen.
Is that really in the rules? Cos he hasn't playd all season he's not allowed to play in the finals? This is discussed here: http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=96445&p=3&topicID=11414546

yea dats wat francis told me! caz i have another 2 imports in the ml sqaud and that ryan cadagan who use to play in the bbl for brighton bears but he hasnt been able to play caz he jus had family things to deal with and germayne forbes was on my roster who plays in hungry and is on the great brtain basketball team but he hasnt been able to come back for a couple of games. so when i told francis this he sed that they have to play at least one game in mid season to play in playoff's. but if it changes then we will have a bigger roster!
We'll come out there and play our game. One thing I never ever do, is to underestimate any team.
I beleived we made a lot mistakes in our first meeting with them and we learned from it. We'll come out there, this time with a more positive attitude. We'll be defending well.
We will stick to our plan. You'll find out on sunday.
P.s.
What is that rules I'm hearing.... And there's ML twice to beat still.
this twice to beat thing's a logistical nightmare. dallas was by far the best side in nba this season and yet they were beaten by golden state...should that series have gone best of 14 games?
if ML lose the final, it's not really a final? or is that only good for qtrs and semis? or maybe ML can do everyone a favour and end all the uncertainty by goin all the way...
Okay Im gonna be a typical girl.. Im just not getting the 2 to beat rule. Say for example TB beats Epsom. Would they need to play 2 games before they can decide on who wins?
How does this actually work??? Come on boys help a danzel in distress.. (kapal)
1. who ever won againist a team in normal season the losing team will have to beat the team in the semi's twice in order to move to the next round. e.g. we beat globe so this week if they win they have to play us again. or if epsom won againist TB in normal season then TB has to beat epsom twice in the semi's. etc.
2. im not 100% sure about this but i think twice to beat will only go on till the quarters stages and not the final.
Because ML won all their games, now if they lose a game in knock out stages, they have another chance. so any team has to beat them twice to knock them out. its some differnt rules right there. consider it an extra life.
Supposing, Globe beat them ML on sunday. When do they have to play the second game? The following week or on thesame day? If it is on the same day, We have to forward the rest of the games?
If, They play the second game the following week, that means ML will play twice on that week?
Right or wrong.
This kind of rules must change. Buti na lang GLOBE ang number 8th eh kung IRRI or KAM was 8ht place. and they beat ML on Play off. very
Aite! I think I got it, dis is some confusing s*@t right there.... So basically if this was football it would kind of be an aggregate i.e ML beat Asiatique in normal season so when they play on Sunday they will have 1 agg. point against Globe and if Globe loses then their out but if they win they have to play ML again, If they win the 1st game and loses the 2nd then their out RIGHT???
QUESTION::::: When are they planning to schedule the second games? The schedule only shows the Playoffs and Semi then the Championship.
Shouldnt they have pencilled in the 2nd Games just in case, so people are aware. Alie!
this twice to beat thing's a logistical nightmare. dallas was by far the best side in nba this season and yet they were beaten by golden state...should that series have gone best of 14 games?
if ML lose the final, it's not really a final? or is that only good for qtrs and semis? or maybe ML can do everyone a favour and end all the uncertainty by goin all the way...
No actually, I'd rather Globe beat them in the first game so they lose the TTB in the semis. And I'd rather Fil-Agency go all the way to the podium...but not like Lewis Hamilton...always runner up...but the eventual winners....

the colombian team can beat any other team in the league, with regards bringing players in, well if teams bring players in, the colombians can also bring some players in, that will strengthen their team, for what I have seen there is not much to be scared about. there are some good teams and players but the colombians can compete also!
although i must say, it is not good that there's talk of bringing new people in to bolster the squad for the finals. im not pointing the finger on the colombians...they're merely reacting to what other teams are doin! just look at epsom...putting on their contract players.
people, this is not the way to go...if championships are goin to be won on a one off, then just play cup or knockout competition format where every match is a must win. why do we have transfer windows in football...and trade deadline in nba?!?!? wake up organisers! whats funny is, the organisers are more worried about people not wearing proper uniforms than the actual players themselves...all aesthetics...
true champions are those that play as one unit throughout and manage to win despite oposition getting stronger and stronger (fil-agency, trailblazers, etc...). fil agency came close. and i think trailblazers got robbed with pissspoor refereeing.
guys have you seen Epsom played? Mike Mustre started to play with Epsom along with his son, if you guys don't know him-I will give a brief what he is like.
RP Team SEA games.
Mythical Second Team
MVP PBL league had it twice during his seaon.
Candidate for MVP PBA
Rookie of the year award during his early years with San Miguel.
This guy is not like J Carmona or R Bravo who are bench players-this guy is a first stringer and played through the PBA championship during crunch time with the same playing expertise with Dondon Hontiveros. And also played the PBA with awards.
caz francis told me that if a player hasnt playd once in the season then the other team has to agree first to allow him to play. caz i have 2 more import players which they are not allowing them to play becuase they havent playd during the open season!
i think coach or the whole tb team has to take this up with the committee caz thats just out of order?
if there not following there own rules then they might as well just forget about doing a league next year aswell!
that is nice to hear. They keep saying filipino players are no good, so why are ML panicking about having their imports. Go on.... wala kayo bilib sa sarili nyo na pinoy. You still have to rely your game sa ibang lahi. Unlike epsom....mga RETIRED players na. look for Mustre, Bravo,Carmona's history/statistics. Mustre: second mythical, nominee for rookie and others/ Bravo : 3 point king PBL. mythical 5 PBL, second stringer in PBA but made a good name in MBA. Carmona: don't know about him, at least he is a PBA player.
Watch out for their coming line up. More surprises to come.......... I bet you..it is moreeeeeeee.I hate you EPSOM...GRRRRRRRRR. YOU R TOO GOOD TO BEAT...
PLS MARCO DONT GO ON LIKE YOUR NOT AN EPSOM PLAYER OR FAMILY OR FRIEND OF THE TEAM!
i remember you backing epsom in the fight in the final last year so you must be a friend or player!
and please dont chat we (ml) should not complain when really thats not the point! please read my comment again before you say anything!
the point is that we were told that we were not aloud to play any player that has not playd in the open season! and that should go for everyone weather being epsom, ml,tb , black, white, yellow, green , blue.
noone mention anything about phillys being NOT GOOD ENOUGH its the rules that we are talking about.
so please read my comment before and then this one and say something that makes sense towards the point im tryna make!
and please just admit you are affiliated with epsom in some way! who your just a person that wnts to be friends with them!
yeh. good for them (ex-pros). history and all...but that is not that point dude. dont make this a filipino vs the rest of the world episode. marco, gusto mo tagalog para madali intidihan!?
go ahead ml. bring in your pros if this league is headin that path. thats bull whatever you've been told. we'll see what happens.
sr mustre wasnt that impressive. he did step up when required...but looked like he's strugglin to keep up with the pace. the jr mustre 13yo son was impressive...some skills at a very young age.
fllip who are you applying you comment to me or marco and what point are you tryna make?
im just saying wat is the point applying rules which are not being used im i the only one not not agreeing to whats hapening!
its nothing againist epsom becuase its good for the league and the community to see these players in actions here in london.
and i didnt say anything about philly againist the whole world all im chatting about is the rules being used and how they are being used,
also can anyone in any other team please confirm if they attended a meeting recently with the committee about the playoff rules. anyone that has please let me know!
goin back on "wala kayong bilib sa sarili nyo pinoy"...think about it marco, you're comparin someone (mustre) up against guys who play for fun! how would your idol go against english ex-pros? compare like for like, not apples with oranges.
no doubt about it though. good to have the expros as it ups the quality and skills. good to have quality players. but hope that it is done in a fair way...play the season, not just the finals.
The way I see it, ELSA is an open league means all nationalities are welcome. Why not take advantage of having other nationalities to join your team for it to be more competitive, it is not because we don't believe in oursleves filipinoes but obviously you can see that other nationals are bigger and stronger than we are.
Even in the PRO's back in Manila if the league considers two imports then teams take advantage of getting foreign blood in their team, and haven't heard from the PBA team itself not even once saying that I would stick ALL FILIPINO and let the other have importes because I believe on my own expertise and would not rely to imports.
I see it as a Lame excuse and narrow approach to basketball itself.
Regarding players playing in the last minute, I do agree with your comment nosense. If I were you, I would speak to ELSA management(who are unjust) prior to the game to discuss this issues.
do we have grounds for protest? should we have refused to play?
what are the chances of epsom gettin kicked out?!? fat chance i reckon. if comittee (or maybe epsom) are not goin to let some ML imports play then it's obvious that there is some preferential treatment happenin here.
anyway, i personally think that ML can beat that epsom squad easily. if cool heads prevail...but watch it though, i overheard the coach saying before their game "more surprises to come"...whatever that means...more ineligible players perhaps!?!?
you know now ive been told different! know there are saying that as long as they are in the line up they are aloud to play and they changed the rules in the last meeting they had?
please can anyone confirm going to a meeting recently with the committee?
this is another topic of the season and the same old topic! well ok if they change the rules and if you are in the line up does anyone still have the programme from the beginning of the season? is mike mustre and his son name on the epsom list in there?
and NO im not going to bring in my other 2 imports becuase it wouldnt be fair on the players who came to every game and workd hard to get where we are at now, for them to sit on the bench! and the end of it, thats is not right!
im just gona stick with my best friend who is the center (butler)
also i want to add that my imports are not people i met recently or went looking for everywhere in london, these are my boys from my area who are close friends of mine.
Lets face it. Most of what has been said here is true. The rule at the beginning was that if you don't play at least one game in the eliminations you should'nt play in the post season. I think this rule was made especially for Reyes who only turns up for the Epsoms difficult games.
ML should watch out they might decide and take the twice to beat rule away from you guys.
A point Id like to make is, where has all the fun gone from basketball amongst us. It all seems about recruitment now and how we can beat Epsom. what happened to the era of Tikboyz, etc. Im sure nobody back then was saying "Lets get him and him so we can beat Tikboyz". If you look back at some of the pics from way back you can see winners and losers smiling for the camera and a lot of friendly banter goin on. Now all you see is champions smiling and losers with sad faces. Lets get the fun back into the game.
Is there a point of complaining, if their rules are all DIfferent in every team. we all know that we are not going to win against the commitee we can only complain and thats it.
Of course we have a ground to complain DST8, But, the problem is, it's not in our rules. we have a different rules. see page 9 of our rules. exactly. where is it?
In response to Wethere we agree or not to let the new players play. I dont have a problem with that. Because we are true sports we dont cheat.
If They bring another player or players next week. I wouldnt be surprise.
EPSOM I like your team. But Huwag naman kayong masyadong GAMOL.
REFEREE you know that it was a foul counted. You killed the game.
KAPIS where was the medic when my players was down on the floor for more that a minute. Ano panunuudin na lang ba natin?
obviously the guys that run elsa/kampi are more interested about the money now then the basketball itself or the fairness of their league. they make enough money from team entrance fees, supporter entrance fees and silly raffle tickets!!! team entrance fees seems to go up every year. i've heard that the next kampi league is £500!! (i believe £100 is deposit and you get back if you dont default but not sure if thats included or you have to lay out £600?) and i'm sure they get help from the local council!! i wouldnt mind but lister is a dump to play in also!!! they cant even guarantee that changing rooms will be open!!! you hav to change in the hall way!!! thats not value for the money each team is forking out to play. anyway, i suggest the only way they will get the message is if fewer teams enter, there are more leagues about now...elsa/kampi do not rule the roost anymore!!
Yes... Lets start a boycott of KAMPI and KAPIS...I'm gonna start printing out all the comments made in this forum and point out all the corruptness of these organisers and start to hand them out to all the people there on the day of the finals... Who wants to support my cause???? For the love of this game!!!!
lets face it, all against epsom in this league. we can't accept them as a team because they have what we call teamwork. yun bang walang sisihan , talo o panalo.
why is epsom getting into our nerves, its not an assurance that they will win this league again because mustre has joined them.
like what you said lets bring back the joy in the league and not sourgraping that this team is just so hard to beat. they will pass thir time and lets just wait when.
give them the chance. we hated them because we keep losing whatever we do. ican say that this space just makes people hate each other and to watch the bad things rather than appreciating the real essence of the game.
i am sorry to say that i do like them but hate them in a way...
I think you have it all misunderstood... We are not having a go at epsom.. As you may have read marco, in previous entries... Epsom is a well respected team... I enjoy watching them because I get to see how good it looks for a team to play well as a team together... Many of the people here would feel the same too...
However, the problem lies not with Epsom but the league itself and the corruptness, double standards, hypocricy and contradictory that goes on... This has gone on for many years now... Long before you arrived in this country and many brit-filipino's have seen happen year after year long before even Epsom players arrived in this country... I have been playing in these leagues since I was 15... and its the same whoever you talk to... The organisers are a bunch of corrupt, narrow minded people and its come to the point where theyve started to break communities instead of unite them.... This forum is a great way to vent our anger and disappointment that the negativity just gets worse every year. The bottom line is that the leagues are not accountable to anyone... No one watches or regulates them that we cant do anything to stop them cheating us for our money... the bottom line is... Kapis did not want a bunch of youths winning the title... So they had to give the game in favour of Epsom, and in the case of sundays match against TB, it was to allow them to field ineligble players... If it had been TB who fielded ineligble players.. I bet they would have not allowed it... Same goes for the Fil-Agency v.s. Arya Abra... I could tell that the committee table were hoping fil-agency to win which is why they allowed them to play with wrong shorts (even though the colour was the same) it wasnt full uniform... Instead they disallowed an arya abra player to play because they didnt have full uniform... (Can u see the hypocricy in that?)
I guess Kampi/Kapis have created a monster here...They have monopolised the filipino leagues in london and I dont think anyone can stop them unless everyone decides not to enter their leagues. It only takes for the likes of PSUK to make their league run at the same time as kampi/kapis which would be good competition... I have so much more to say on this but im getting bored writing... Lets see what others have to say... They can either agree or disagree...!!!
I have watched this league for many many years and agree with many points that dark knight has raised.
Double standards and no regulations will mean that KAMPI/KAMIS/ELSA will always have the last say.
It has been refreshing to play recently in a leauge that seems to care more about the game, the players and community. I am talking about PSUK.
From the start they have seemed organised and communicated with the teams / managers, even with simple e-mails & calls.
They recently held a dinner /dance of a very good quality to help relations with teams and the committee. Good food, reasonable priced drinks and very nice venue. Both young and older players attended.
They are trying to promote teams with younger players and games always start on time.
Also thier rules are clear and players that are not registered from the begining cannot join in later games.
Clock is run better, even the refs seem to feel able to make calls without thinking, venue is good too. just need more support from everyone.
Lets face it basketball is getting expensive and we all just want to get wat we pay for. Its not easy to arrange but see whats happens next.
Fielding ineligble players - BS
Not allowing other teams to enter players for the same reasons - BS
Taking away rules near the end of the season - BS
Corruptness, double standards, hypocricy - BS
FIX UP or people will come to their senses and move onto better things. FIX UP before its to late.......
Ok people...I might as well join in on this debate.
People who know me know my views & thoughts about the Leagues run here in London.
Unless we are seriously thinking of a way to put our views across to the ELSA/KAMPI committee, all our writings on this forum will be pointless. Editor said last year that they do read this forum, but yet nothing has changed.
I totally agree with Dark Knight in boycotting the league, but as a devoted Basketball Player (I LOVE THIS GAME!), I want to play all the time & against the best. Problem is that KAMPI is by far the larger League, with 22 teams last year? (Hopefully PSUK will become as big). But for this boycott to work, everyone who has the same views & opinions should sign maybe a petition, or some sort of book where by the committee can see what players/managers/fans think of the way this Organization is run and how it should be run. Whether they listen to us & adhere by it is another matter.
I think TB players should all turn up on Sunday with uniforms, just in case the committee wake up and get a conscience......I mean this is not the ambassadors cup, its not free to play here.....All the teams are paying to play in this league and should not feel cheated of there money....Maybe if enough people complain on Sunday before the game then something might be done....Lets just remember who's to blame and not take things out on Epsom....
With regards the boycott, I can't really see that happening...We all love this game to much, I mean its like the Editor said in another forum. Some ML and Shohoku players joined the Birmingham league. Thats how much we Filipinos want to play basketball....We'd go to the end of the earth to play....
Thats true... Maybe a boycott is a bit of an extreme measure to take for people who just want to play the game... But we surely have to stand up somehow to the organisers because half of the time they just dont know what their doing let alone know what theyre doing worng!! If boycotting is not an option, we have to somehow get the messages across to them proactively. Any more suggestions??
I'm sure they were beaten before in Kampi (even with Ex-Pros, Committee and REF on their side).. Play Hardball.. just get on with the game and don't mind the refs and comms.. I'm very sure they got beat!!!.. But they still won the championship..
