C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! !

The two big guys are just what Sunics needed in the finals. Made a lot of difference by getting rebounds and also reducing the points scored inside the paint by defending against the very strong Gener Tuazon of Epsom. But there were times when he was just unstoppable. Epsom's Reyes scored a lot of points in the first half. But Sunics seemed to have that extra pace on the transition, being the younger side perhaps? Or maybe lucky cos Epsom missed a lot of shots, especially the usually reliable Ruel Bravo. I think he only hit one 3-pointer throughout the game. Jun Carmona missed a lot of sitters in the first but made up for it in the 2nd when he hit three 2-pointers in a row from the same spot on the left side, clap.gif albeit only to hit an embarrasing airball in the 4th attempt.biggrin

Ronald Worrell was the man of the match!!! Not surprising. For those who don't him. He's been around for a while. Much longer than me! He's around 45. I think he's been MVP more times than Joey Capistrano...only cos Joey likes tennis too but he's never MVP there so he wen't back to basketball...heheheh!!!biggrinbiggrin Now seriously. Worrell is a very good player and difficult to defend against. Maybe we would've beaten Epsom in the Ambassador's Cup Final in 2007 had he not been injured in the 2 games prior to the final.
Another new young player called Ragasa stood out as well..nangraragasa siya talaga!

Epsom's Mustre Snr and Babilonia just made a cameo apperance to my disappoinment.hmmhmm And Tubeza must've watched me play and picked up bad habits...like how to get 4 personal fouls in a space of 7 minutes! LOL!biggrin.gif Mustre Jnr played and he bagged a 3-pointer for his first touch and shot of the ball but then seemed to have lost the plot after that but you can't blame him for trying. He won the Best 3-pointer award though.

Bing Vidad was undoubtedly going to be the MVP as he was always the match winner, with the exception of this game. This game was won by the whole Sunics team!

Other people there might have a different opinion but for me the referees made call errors for both sides. Epsom were slower on transitions and turnovers. Unlucky with their shots and I think a bit of discipline and leadership were lacking. But maybe if those missed shots went in I wouldn't mention discipline.
They may come back with a vengeance sooner than we think...Winter League perhaps?

The video will be posted as soon as my video producer has finished editing it. Watch this space.

hey congrats to sunics :) !!!!!!!

i came down to watch the game hoping for them to get their first title but when i saw Epsom bring the whole team down i thought different and thought they might take it. but they proved me wrong and well done. i have to say Worrell came to play the other center did well but Worrell playd with heart and i saw he wanted to win it. The difference i saw with the sunics team this year is that they didnt let the bad calls or the calls they wntd get to them. and they just continued to play how they playd at the start. its true refs did make bad calls but it happens they are human!! but, this time i didn't see no favoritism from the refs for any of the two teams.

another key aspect to sunics win is keepin Tuazon quiet in the game coz he can do damage, i saw that they didnt let him set in the post and when he did they put pressure on him, i think it was bing who done most of that.

Bing deserves MVP after all the yrs killin people on the court, Allister (correct if the name is wrong)is defo a sunics future star, his got a nice shot and can get to the rim, c del la cruz heart of the team nuff said..., i think j del la cruz was inured before so didnt really play, mark playd well in the game an got epsom into foul trouble late in the game( i think at one point he got hurt or was bleeding).

Epsom didnt look like they come to play or didnt look hungry to win that much but still mae the game close, reyes is a quality player i must admit and bravo is probs the best Philly point guard in the london.

at the start of the game i said that Tuazon and Reyes will be epsom key players and i was kinda right.
Barcelona is one of my favorite players in basketball altogether, he has just consistant game and plays well all the time and not even aggressive play. Mustre jr is gona be a scary player to come up against next year or the year after. What happen to Mustre snr? i thought he would come on shoot some nba range 3's and it will be game over ? maybe next time..

Urm... i defo dont know about epsom winning elsa coz some teams that may join have a monster line up... so only time will tell!

Well i think im joining the kampi committee for next yr so i mite not be playing no more but im excited to join coz i have a lot of ideas to bring forward to the game and how we can enjoy it more!!! so watch this space !!!!!!

Congratulations to Sunics for beating the Jireh Int'l team.
It just shows what hard work and playing as a team can bring......
A CHAMPIONSHIP

The Jireh team forgot this. They don't seem to have faith in the players that play every week. A completely different team suits up for the final. The young Mustre hardly played and the other young shooter didn't play at all. Oh well.

So Bing when you gonna your sunics to some other leagues?? I don't think kampi is the most competetive league anymore, plus its too expensive. How much for 9 games?? 5 to 600 pounds. Naa mate thats *&^%$$£!!!.

Hopefully PSUK will start again, but would like to see the Sunics team in Slough or something next year dude. Oh yeah theres KAPIS.......

So have you got a team yourself?

I know what u mean bout Kampi, but they've been the most consistent of all leagues meaning its been on every year. Yes it is bloody expensive, dat's wot i complained about to the committee, especially in these hard times, and they said they'll take dat on board for next season, dat's if their is??

How much is the Berkshire league? Heard £700?? But for more games tho! And its tooooo far. I know! But its great that its 4 quarters!!!!

Hopefully PSUK comes back coz that was a nice refreshing league, committee were run by organised women and always tried to be fair.

But in all honesty, I'd like new refs, qualified! Licensed! With Registrations & everythin lol

For the new? Kampi committee (george?) please take on board our suggestions/ideas/advice.
Especially when these meetings take place! All teams reps should be made to come along with refs? Not just to collect our monies!!

B21-SUNICS Champions-MVP LOL!!

^OT. Berkshire League's only 450 GBP. NOT £700. :) It's 4 quarters indeed and usually stop time unless catching some games due to time restriction. Full amateur FIBA rules apply at all times.

Nonetheless, gratz to sunics.. c",)
