BERKSHIRE SUMMER LEAGUE 2010

EVERYONE,

THE much awaited Berkshire Summer League 2010 is now commencing this coming Saturday the 29th of May 2010. The League will be graced by a simple opening ceremony and there will be two games on the opening day.

We are still open to all who wishes to participate. Text intent to 07809068204 or send email to filipinobasketball@yahoo.com.

Shall update this thread soon as information will be made available.

Venue will run on the very same venue that made our League shaped its name, in the best basketball court around, the Herschel Sports Center in Slough.

Cheers everyone,

Gidz

The opening of the BERKSHIRE SUMMER LEAGUE 2010 is marked by simple ceremony.

Gracing the opening is a game between READING SARI-SARI STORE and LONDON HOPE. It was a close game, however, LONDON HOPE was short and the joint power of NACORDA, PAYAS & CHINO of London Hope was not enough to overcome the towers of READING Sari Sari Store backed by VILELA and NERIDA. Final Score is 76-68 for READING. Apparently, Mike Castaneda [Adamson] is Reading's backup player this year. Nice new faces from both London Hope & Reading.

We are very happy to announce that the Summer League 2010 will be played through out in Herschel Sports.

Anyone wishing to join is still welcome. Send email to filipinobasketball@yahoo.com or text 07809068204 for intent. More teams, the better. ;)

Tah!

Gidz

This year, the committee decided to divide the 12teams into two brackets where teams were seeded according to last year's ranking. We simply cannot afford to ask teams to get 700 or 800 entry fee, hence, we opted for bracket system so team entry will be to a minimum to 450 for this season. Down from 550 last year.

Update this afternoon, JAGUARS beat the PORTSMOUTH selection with just a meager 1 point. on the Second game, AIRSIDE overshadowed the BRACKNELL Team.

Team to beat?

I guess, for Bracket 1, kusinang munti, Airside and Reading.
For Bracket 2, Portsmouth, Jaguars and Slough.

Too early to say who is the team to beat. All team's got power players.

Nonetheless, see how it goes come saturday for all teams managed to play by then.

1st Game: PORTSMOUTH vs SLOUGH 1:30pm
2nd Game: KUSINANG MUNTI vs READING
3rd Game: Given vs Alpha Butchers

;)

Camlon is the player who scored the winning shot for london against Berkshire in the ambassadors cup. Think he plays for Spartans in Coventry league. Don't know which team he plays for in Berkshire league I guess whichever team Rivera plays for

First of, this year's league is bracketted with the primary reason of attempting to balance the financial state of running the league. Each bracket is seeded in accordance to last year's final ranking. The venue rental costs £72.00 per hour alone. A discount is received because the Berkshire League is a community based sports league. 2 hours is allocated for each game to ensure a full coverage per game. That's excluding referees pay. The committee is not happy to drop the quality of the league in favour of going to a cheaper venue. Mind you, it is the Sporting Venue and how it is run that made the Berkshire Filipino Basketball Summer League sail through the years.

With the current economic climate, we can not afford to raise the entry fee to £800 or £1,000 per season. From the beginning, The Berkshire League is a power Summer League. If you field a halfbaked team, you will never win a single game. This year's entry fee is £450. Not the £500 as claimed by erring individuals. A simple mathematics shall help you calculate the season's financial liquidation. The league is a collective effort and its success is dependent on the cooperation of the participating teams. The first to QUIT this year is GIVEN also known elsewhere as the CLD. An official statement will be released soon.

Now, for the setup,

Each Bracket is composed of 6 Teams.

Bracket A:

Kusinang Munti   [carmona/mustre/jhanke]
Airside [gomez/camlon/belnas]
Bracknell [jr/sidney/ben]
Reading [vilela/castaneda/
London Hope [michael payas/nacorda/
Chalfont  [

Bracket B:

Jaguars [ebilane/sambo/sidney]
Portsmouth [selection from portsmouth/basingstoke/winchester]
Slough [
Given/CLD [
Crusaders [
Rockets [

* Bracket Winner is assured of a semifinal seat
* I Bracket A Rank 2 will face Bracket B Rank 3 in a single round quarterfinals
* II Bracket B Rank 2 will face Bracket A Rank 3 in a single round quarterfinals
* Winner of I will face Bracket 2 Top Team for a single round semi finals
* Winner of II will face Bracket 1 Top Team for a sigle round semi finals

Teams who has not have a single win so far pulled out and quit already. However, they are expected to pay administrative fee to cover Venue rental and referee payment as a result of their defaults.

As of today, ranking are as follows:

Bracket A

3-0 Airside 1 win by default
2-1 Kusinang Munti 1 win by default
2-1 Bracknell 1 win by default
2-1 Reading 1 win by default
1-1 London Hope 1 win by default
0- 5 Chalfont

Bracket B

3-0 Jaguars 1 win by default
2-1 Portsmouth 1 win by default
2-1 Given/CLD 1 win by default
1-1 Slough 1 win by default
1-1 Crusaders 1 win by default
0-5 Rockets

=============

@ oldballer, please read above for league 2010 setup
@ asoka, strong teams so far are: jaguars/portsmouth/airside/kusinang munti as a result of the initial games.
@ mr cool, yes, Camlon is the very same player that sank the final basket during last year's ambassador cup. he is playing for airside this year.
@ wtf, given who are wearing cld uniform pulled out. entry fee is not 500 but 450 GBP. 400 gbp is meant to cover cost during eliminations and the remaining fee as their contribution to cover the quarter/semi and finals. problem is, losing teams seem to be unsportsman and simply give alibi to justify their ineptness to comply with what is expected of their team.

========

GAMES THIS SATURDAY:

JAGUARS vs SLOUGH
PORTSMOUTH vs CRUSADERS
AIRSIDE vs LONDON HOPE

good day everone.
